ABOUT
Sage Learning LLC provides personalized in-person and virtual executive function and study skills coaching for high school and college students based out of Arlington, Virginia.

My name is Muriel Croston and I am a creative, caring, and experienced educator with 14 years of experience as a middle and high school history teacher. After leaving the classroom, I became a homeschooler and executive function coach. I received my B.A. in History with a cross-disciplinary study in African and African Diaspora Studies from St. Mary's College of Maryland where I was Phi Beta Kappa and won the Colton History Award. After graduating, I went to William & Mary where I received my M.A.Ed. in Secondary Social Studies Education. I earned certification as an Executive Function Coach from Executive Function Coaching Academy and I am also a certified Executive Function Strategist by Connected Pathways Academy. I have also completed the Autism & Neurodiversity Masterclass, a neuro-affirming and autistic created course.
I have expertise in helping students with executive functioning, study skills, test-taking skills, giftedness, ADHD, and/or Autism. Having been diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood, I bring a passion for helping students develop the skills that will make them successful today and in the future.

TESTIMONIALS

"Muriel is magic! She established a strong rapport with my 9th grader, and helped him build much-needed awareness of his school assignments and plan his homework. My son is less anxious about homework and exams due to Muriel's skills. He looks forward to their weekly sessions, fidget toys, learning new homework 'hacks' and likes feeling more confident about his studies. I greatly appreciate Muriel's deft guidance! Her sessions with my son greatly reduce our household friction over homework and I no longer have to steel myself for nightly 'homework wars.'"
Elizabeth, parent
"Muriel has been tutoring my daughter for over a year. She is very patient and encouraging and her classes are interesting and interactive. My daughter always looks forward to her classes with Muriel."
Natasha, parent
"[Muriel] was pivotal in helping me develop my argumentative writing skills. Her thoughtful and individualized approach showed me how to lay out my thoughts most effectively and draw conclusions based on evidence. Not only did she help me succeed in the humanities, but also laid the groundwork for me to be a constructive scientific communicator throughout college. [Muriel] is kind and thoughtful, intelligent and creative. She helped me gain the skill and the confidence to communicate effectively, whether that be written or spoken word, which has been essential to my success in college and beyond."
